Thanksgiving and Andrew Johnson

For Thanksgiving, Katie and I ventured up to Greeneville, TN with my mom to visit my family. It was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed spending time with family. We both especially enjoyed the great food!

Not only did we indulge in family, food, games and even some late night black friday shopping, but also history. Katie loves history and since Greeneville is historic in that the former president Andrew Johnson is from there, we took a little tour of his home and grave.

No Shave November - Updated*

Yes, I know. It's been forever and a day since we've last posted any updates on the Sharpe family. We've changed jobs, bought a home, Jake's eating bags of dog food at a time now, and the time has flown by with great speed. So, expect updates on all those situations to follow soon as I jump back on this thing.

I did want to update you all on something that I stumbled upon and will be personally contributing to. It's called "No Shave November" and is something men (and women too) participate in to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancers. It's basically the "manswer" to generous amounts of pink promoting breast cancer awareness in the month of October.

The rules for "NSN" are quite simple...you don't shave for the whole month of November. I've started this adventure with a little bit of bearded action as it is, so after this month, it should be pretty interesting. I've never actually let my beard grow for more than a couple weeks, so we'll get to see how sweet this thing turns out.

I'm posting a photo to start out with and will update at the end of the month. Wish me luck and as little itchiness as possible!

***Update: And now, NSN is over and I made it! It was only a little itchy and really not all that bad. The only problem is that I've grown to enjoy the beard and have decided not to shave it off any time in the near future. That doesnt necessarily excite Katie, but she is being gracious and loving by letting me keep it. So, after all is said and done, here it is:

We are officially a family....we have a dog!

A couple of weeks ago, we welcomed Jake into our lives. He's currently 9 weeks old. He can test both our patience a bit, but we love him and enjoy his companionship. Here's a few photos. Enjoy!

Hey Y'all!

Well hello world! (At least the world on the interwebs.) This is Brendon. I wanted to take a minute and introduce everyone to our blog and tell you thanks for stopping by to see what we have been up to. Obviously since this is the first post, you haven't seen us up to much of anything yet. Fear not, because we want you to be a part of our lives.

We mainly started this blog so we can look back on the things we've done as well as share our lives with family and friends in one easy way.

To let you know who we are:

Brendon: I'm 26 and married to my best friend in the world. I went to school at USC and Columbia International University. I currently work at Michelin. I really enjoy spending time with my wife and our new puppy. I love riding in my jeep and spending time with the boys. Life is one beautiful and amazing gift from God and I never want to treat it as anything less. Hope you enjoy your time reading about us!

Katie: I'm 26 as well (Brendon is only 10 days older than me).  God has allowed me to marry my best friend too.  God has blessed me in this life so much more than I deserve.  I have a great husband who loves God with his entire being and wonderful family and friends.  I am a certified teacher and have a degree in Early Childhood education.  I am currently a long term substitute.  I am patiently waiting to see what doors God will open next for me career wise.  I enjoy blogging, crafting and reading.  I look forward to documenting our lives together, especially since I have a terrible memory, and sharing moments of our life journey with family and friends.

Jake: Well, since he's a puppy, I'll fill in for him. Jake is a 2 month old (at time of this post) chocolate lab. He enjoys playing with his ball and spending time with Katie and I.  He also loves to sleep!  He's a great dog so far!
